Swarm storage Allgäu is Gigawatt Winner
PV magazine Award 2020

ADS-TEC Energy wins the pv magazine Award 2020 in the category Gigawatt. This year five first places are awarded as "Gigawatt Winner". With the successful project "Schwarmspeicher Allgäu", embedded in the spectacular scenery of the Alps in Kempten, egrid and ADS-TEC Energy are right at the top as project partners. "Thanks to the closely integrated cooperation with ADS-TEC, we were able to set up the distributed storage system in a very short time and successfully put it into operation," says egrid Managing Director Bernhard Rindt.

As the project manager, egrid applications and consulting GmbH developed a method of arranging distributed medium-sized storage systems, each with several hundred kilowatt hours of capacity and power, within a distribution network and operating them as a swarm or individually as required in order to be able to offer a wide range of network services. Especially the complex multiple use is economically interesting for customers like in this case the Allgaeuer Ueberlandwerk.

PowerBooster inaugurated in Dresden
Environmentally friendly mobility offer

Together with the Saxon state capital Dresden, DREWAG and other partners, Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe (DVB) opened the 17th Dresden Mobility Point (MOBIpunkt) in mid-March. It combines the environmentally friendly mobility offers tram, bus, car sharing and rental bikes as well as charging points for electric cars. The Mobility Point offers optimal transfer conditions between the different means of transport.

The special feature at the Fetscherplatz location is the PowerBooster of ADS-TEC Energy. The battery storage system has a capacity of 241 kWh and is used to buffer fast charging processes. Thus the grid connection capacity at the site can be limited to 140 kW. "Nevertheless, it will be possible to refuel three electric vehicles with a maximum charging capacity of 150 kW at the same time", explains DREWAG Managing Director Dr. Frank Brinkmann. Thanks to the battery storage system from ADS-TEC Energy, the city of Dresden avoids an expensive and time-consuming grid expansion in the middle of the city. This serves to maintain the stability of the power grids in the long term and minimises the effort required to expand the infrastructure for electromobility.

The video shows the successful opening and launch of the HPC fast charging system of ADS-TEC Energy with Franz Untersteller, Minister for Environment, Climate and Energy Economy in Baden-Württemberg. At the headquarters of the ADS-TEC Group in Nürtingen, the Minister of the Environment successfully tested the new system with his Audi e-tron.

The Minister was pleased that his new official car could be loaded in the shortest possible time. The High Power Charger offers a charging capacity of up to 320 kW. This clearly exceeds the charging capacity of most current e-vehicles. An Audi e-tron provides around 150 kW. The Porsche Taycan can even be charged with significantly higher power. This high charging capacity is also possible on the power-limited grid without costly grid expansion using the HPC booster storage system. Exceptional compactness, minimal noise and top-quality design allow fast charging technology to be made available at many locations in the distribution network.

Review: E-World 2020
Successful trade fair days

Unfortunately, many of our trade fairs had to be cancelled this year. We are therefore all the more pleased that E-World was able to take place successfully before the Corona wave. On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Europe's leading trade fair for the energy industry once again proved to be the driving force for the industry. At the E-world energy & water 813 exhibitors (record!) showed the more than 25,000 visitors their innovations around the energy supply. Experts from the economy, politics and associations spent three days exchanging information about opportunities and challenges and obtaining information about new solutions.

ADS-TEC Energy presented its battery storage solutions at the Bosch joint stand in Essen. Volker Winter, Head of Sales, looks back positively on the three days of the fair: "Our first appearance at the E-World in Essen was an absolute highlight. We were able to inspire many customers with our products, system solutions and services. The discussions resulted in highly interesting projects, which we are working on together with our customers as a strong partner. In addition, as part of the Bosch stand, we demonstrated that together with Bosch we create even greater added value for our customers.”
