First Non-Subsidized Large-Scale Battery in Germany
ads-tec Storage System with a Primary Control Capacity of 3 Megawatts now in Operation

Norwegian energy supplier Statkraft was the first company to invest in modern battery technology to control primary balancing power. In close cooperation with ads-tec, the highly safe and powerful battery system was integrated into the automated management system of the medium voltage grid of Dörverden’s running water power plant and approved by the network operator. In only 10 months time, ads-tec delivered three turnkey, redundant container units, including control system and firewall with a total dynamic capacity of more than 3 megawatts.

Successful Project: Self-Sufficiency confirmed for Weinsberg’s Local Storage System
Central 150 kWh Lithium-Ion Battery from ads-tec buffers Solar Power of 23 Homes

The flagship project in Weinsberg (Baden-Württemberg) is an optimal testing platform for renewable technologies. The energy and heat requirement of the new housing estate is covered mainly by solar power. Current readings from almost two years of operation confirm that 97 percent of the electricity demand and about 50 percent of the heat demand are covered by the system, thereby reaching the goal of almost complete self-sufficiency in a sustainable fashion. After this successful testing phase, the model can be replicated, for example in the industry sector, trade, tourism, agriculture or public buildings.
