With its Automation business unit, ads-tec offers complex automation solutions in the main areas of pick and place, tool and material loading, transport and manipulation technology, as well in interlinkage and optimisation. Here, our experience ranges from complex miniature components via electronic components, baked sand cores and hot aluminium up to very large and heavy workpieces. In all processes it is our objective to safely and cost-efficiently move, trace, position and control the tools, workpieces, components or raw materials between the defined process steps. Our services range from the idea creation via the process definition and the computer based cycle time simulation up to the complete project implementation including mechatronics, electronics, control technology, IT connection, installation and service. Renowned groups of companies trusted us as their general contractor with project volumes in double million figures. Currently we are busy with the automated assembly, manufacture and testing of lithium ion batteries for vehicles, a topic that certainly has a great future in terms of alternative powertrains for motor vehicles. By using our modular product design in the areas of material manipulation technology, stacking cells, automatic loading systems and interlinkage equipment, we are fast and cost efficient. The Data systems and System technology divisions complement each other in their scope of work. While the Data systems division is primarily busy with in-depth hardware development and hardware related programming, the heart of the System technology division beats for integration of operating systems, information technology, databases, networks, security, etc. In both divisions, ads-tec closely cooperates with the market leaders INTEL® and MICROSOFT®. Industrial PC product group

ads-tec successfully works with the Industrial PC product group for more than 20 years. I all began with customer specific equipment concepts based on commercially available boards and components. In the meantime, all industrial PCs made by ads-tec consist of own developments. This includes the design, the mechanics and electronics, as well as CPU boards, power adapters, firmware and BIOS written in source code. Industrial PCs from ads-tec are available for long periods of time, and ads-tec is capable of changing, improving or replacing all components at any point in time. With this high degree of in-house development and their excellent quality levels, industrial PCs from ads-tec are a class on their own. The portfolio of Industrial PCs includes the classic industrial PC in the form of the panel PC. A large variety of formats and performance categories are available in the Panel PC product family. Powerful panel PCs are not always required. Especially for visualisation or terminal functions, compact and cost efficient PC based systems including reduced equipment levels are in demand. Thin clients from ads-tec, for instance, although having the standard interfaces like Ethernet, USB, etc., by don't offer any slots for extension boards or other options of additions. Thin clients from ads-tec work with embedded operating systems like WINDOWS® CE or LINUX booted from the FLASH memory, in most cases. But for thin client solutions based on XP Embedded, hard disks can also be used as an alternative. In general, the robust AUTOMOTIVE class hard disks can be used in ads-tec industrial PCs. The classes of Thin clients and Panel PCs are complemented by another class of industrial PCs, the Blind Node or DIN rail PC class. Without any display, and in a slim format, industrial PCs from ads-tec used as Blind Nodes also represent powerful and decentralised intelligence in the product field of industrial PCs.

Terminal product group

In the product field of terminals, ads-tec offers highly optimised x86 based PC terminal solutions for many years. Having been awarded with several design prizes, any one of our terminal models is not only technologically unique but also incorporates a particular design value. These terminals offer a maximised performance with a minimised volume, and this also at very attractive prices. In all cases, the terminal work without fans and are protected all around from any influence by dust, dirt or water in IP65 compliant cases. Despite being very compact these terminals have numerous interfaces. Every terminal is equipped with all essential PC interfaces like Ethernet and USB. The application options are diverse. Our PC based terminals including x86 compatibility show their particular strength when installed onboard all kinds of vehicles, forklift trucks, transport systems, busses, etc. But our terminals not only fulfil their function and show their benefits onboard busses and in the other applications previously described; but they also have many different uses as a robust and reliable unit in systems and machines, on top of cranes, in the capturing of machine and operational data, on top of counters, and so on. Well-established and reliable installation options like VESA adapters and a large diversity of other brackets provide for an easy installation. If mobile use is required, our terminals are also available per wireless connection via WLAN or UMTS. Terminals can also be equipped with RFID technology which becomes more and more popular, and can read and process passive RFIS tags.

IT infrastructure product group

Todays industrial work is impossible without any IT infrastructure. With the introduction of Ethernet in manufacturing, an IT infrastructure for rough industrial everyday work increasingly becomes a requirement. This includes firewalls, access points and WLAN clients. The requirement of having a firewall installed in IT infrastructures is a matter of course, and it is considered a case of gross neglect if you operate a network without any firewall. But taking this though even further, this also applies to machines, plants and equipment, which are increasingly connected with the Ethernet and, as a result, also with the overall network. Specifically in industrial production environments, ensuring that nothing interferes with the operation is essential, and even if it was only for security and product liability reasons, operating companies must be interested in protecting their functional units connected with the Ethernet by using a firewall. ads-tec offers an industrial firewall which is specifically optimised for this purpose. The ads-tec firewall is designed for use in rough, industrial environments. The firewall provides all well-established protective mechanisms allowing security settings, remote maintenance, remote access and network protection, at the same time. In addition to usually available functions, the ads-tec firewall offers special functions like the physical switch-off of the network connection, the automatic creation of rulesets, an integrated quadruple switch, etc.

And of course, the tablet PC is operated per touch screen using the fingers or a stylo. ads-tec has specialised in tablet PCs to be used in demanding and rough environments.
